GT-402 with Multiple Combustibles "We own a large number of GasTech GT-402's which we use to monitor several different types of combustible gases. Is it possible to calibrate the instrument on one gas but use the instrument to easily monitor for others?"
***Yes.
Keeping Sensors "Fresh" "I noticed that Gas Tech packages their sensors in sealed bags. Should I leave the sensor in the bag until use...?"
Yes, the bags that the sensors are sealed in will slow down deterioration of the sensors. We recommend not holding too many sensors in stock, as they do deteriorate with time. Here at GasTech Australia we hold stocks of fresh sensors which we can send to you urgently. Ensuring any sensors you install in GasTech equipment provide maximum operational life.
Alkaline batteries and cold weather "I have several gas detectors that use alkaline batteries and have noticed recently that the batteries are not lasting as long as they did several months ago..."
In very cold conditions NiCads should be used.
Portable instrument calibration "I recently purchased a Gas Tech portable instrument for the detection of combustible gas, oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulphide. How often should this instrument be "bump" tested or calibrated…"
According to the Australian Standard a bump test should be done before each occasion use. Instrument calibration is required at six monthly intervals or at any time you suspect the accuracy of the instrument.
