Is it possible to calibrate the instrument on one gas but use the instrument to easily monitor for others?

Should I leave the sensor in the bag until use?

Yes, the bags that the sensors are sealed in will slow down deterioration of the sensors. We recommend not holding too many sensors in stock, as they do deteriorate with time. Why the alkaline batteries are not lasting in cold weather?

 In very cold conditions NiCads should be used. 

How often should this instrument be "bump" tested or calibrated?

According to the Australian Standard a bump test should be done before each occasion use. Instrument calibration is required at six monthly intervals or at any time you suspect the accuracy of the instrument.
